Simply put, fertilizer acts as food for your lawn. It has many essential nutrients such as phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium.

How Quickly Will I See Results After Starting With Weed Man?

How Much Water Does My Lawn Need?

Mother Nature provides water, but she sometimes needs help. Your lawn needs 1 to 1-1/2" (3-4 cm) of water weekly. If you’re wondering whether or not you need supplemental water, look for these telltale signs of oncoming drought stress: Areas near concrete/ asphalt (sidewalks and driveways), under large trees, and on slopes start to take on a dark silvery or smoky blue-green haze. In extreme cases, the lawn may appear yellowish. Footprints or lawnmower wheel marks don't spring back shortly after they are made. If your lawn shows symptoms of drought, water it immediately, regardless of the time of day. Under normal circumstances, early morning is the best time to water your lawn so that the leaves can dry slowly and naturally without too much evaporation, and with most of the water penetrating the soil. Regular, deep watering is better than daily light sprinklings. Deep watering and allowing the lawn to dry out between watering will force the roots to penetrate deeper in search of moisture.

What Happens If It Rains on My Scheduled Service Day?

This all depends on the volume and severity of the rain. If very heavy rain is forecasted on your scheduled service day, your service may be postponed to ensure the efficacy of the application. After your service has been performed, rain will not normally affect weed control applications, unless it rains very heavily immediately after the application. If your service needs to be rescheduled, or if you need a reapplication in between scheduled services, we’ll work with you to reschedule the service to a time when weather conditions improve.

Should I Water My Lawn After Fertilizing?

Accepted Answer

We recommend you water your lawn within 48 hours after a  fertilizer application , if it doesn't rain during that time. This will activate the fertilizer so it can begin to feed your lawn. However, if your treatment also includes a weed control product, you should wait for the product to dry before watering. This usually takes a few hours. Be sure to ask your technician about Weed Man’s fertilization program, its follow-up steps, or maintenance.

Do I Need To Water My Lawn After Aeration?

If your aeration was performed in combination with overseeding (another service available at most Weed Man locations), make sure you water your lawn deeply right after your service. For the next 10-14 days, water daily for 15 to 20 minutes in order to keep the seed moist, especially if there is no supplemental water from natural rainfall. A strict watering regimen is crucial for ensuring the success of the new seed.

How Often Should I Mow My Lawn?

Mow your lawn as often as you need to in order to maintain the proper height. Your lawn may require mowing more than once a week during peak growth periods in the spring and fall, and only once every two weeks during the hot summer months. But the amount of rain you get will have a direct impact on that. The ideal mowing height for most lawns is 7.5-9 cm (3” - 3.5”). The easiest thing to do is to make sure your mower is set 1-2 settings above the "middle" setting.

And as we like to say, a thick and healthy lawn will always be your best defence against weeds of all kinds.
