We always say that we have the best customers in the world. Last year, you really showed up to prove it during our annual Grassroots Giving food drive by donating 108,000 pounds of food for families in need across North America. That’s almost 90,000 meals!

This year, we’re hoping you can help us do even more. For our Third Annual Grassroots Giving food drive, our goal is to raise 110,000 pounds of food.

It’s a big goal, and it will take a combined effort from every one of our local participating franchisees and the communities they serve. But we know we can reach our goal thanks to the generosity of our incredible customers.

How Does Grassroots Giving Work?

Donating is easy!

1. The day before your next lawn care application during our Grassroots Giving campaign, you will receive a text or email reminder about your next service.
2. During our visit, simply leave any food items for donation outside your front door (preferably in a box or bag).
3. Your Weed Man technician will collect all items while they are there to complete your service.
4. All donations will benefit our friends at our local food banks!

Some of the most in-demand items include:

• Canned proteins: Tuna, salmon, chicken, and peanut butter

• Canned meals: Beans, soups, stews, chilli, and pasta sauces

• Dry goods: Rice, pasta, oatmeal, breakfast cereals, and flour

• Canned vegetables & fruits: Corn, peas, peaches, and applesauce

• Baby essentials: Baby food, formula, and jarred purees

You will want to avoid glass jars, expired food, fresh or frozen food, or any open packaging.

Why This Cause Has Never Been More Important

At Weed Man, we know that food insecurity doesn’t just happen to strangers and the unhoused. It can happen to the people in the house next door, even if they struggle in silence.

In fact, 1 in 6 households with children in the United States is currently facing food insecurity. At the same time, 1 in 4 families in Canada live in food-insecure households and over half of all Canadians are one pay check away from needing food bank services.
