Weed Man Nashville branch manager Harrison Myers recently stopped by the WSMV4 studio to chat with the “Today in Nashville” team about spring lawn care in the Nashville area.

“It’s definitely a partnership,” Harrison said. “You want to have frequent but deep watering of your yard, a proper mowing schedule, and then also a partnership with Weed Man lawn care to take care of your fertilizer and weed control needs.”

Here’s what else Harrison had to say about the best ways to set your lawn up for success in the season to come.

On Watering

In order to water deeply, you should be watering, in general, for “20 to 30 minutes, maybe three or four times a week right now.”

On Pre-emergent Weed Control

“A preemergent is very vital to set yourself up for the entire season. Now is the time to get a preemergent, so that’s why we have a little bit of urgency behind our products at the moment.”

On Local Weeds

“You’re going to see a lot [of different varieties], but definitely the broadleaf weeds, such as clover, and we’re fighting the uphill battle with crabgrass.”

On Aeration

Aerations are most successful in the fall time. That’s going to be a great additive to your schedule with us. An aeration is going to let you get some plugs in the soil, allow the air to get down low, and then also the water to get deep into the roots.”
